Volkl has always done a great job with race skis and on-piste performers and this GS R is no different. We love the power, stability, and edge grip, as any good race ski should provide.

Who it's for:

Competitive GS racers will get the most out of this ski, although there’s certainly a sub-group of ski racer fans who want this type of on-piste performance and they will not be disappointed.

Highlights:

Built with the World Cup in mind, we get a strong wood core consisting of beech and poplar to go along with two layers of titanal for damping and power. This race construction, combined with Giant Slalom shaping, provides an insane amount of power and grip. If you’re looking to hold a turn at top speeds and on ice, this is the place to be.

Things to consider:

There’s not a whole lot of versatility here, as the GS R is a very specific tool for a very specific job. If you’re not a GS racer or someone who’s looking for that type of turn, then this is a challenging ski. We recommend consulting your race coach for proper sizing guidelines.
