Can SILCA make an aero sock that’s first and foremost a truly great sock?
SILCA partnered with a renowned Italian team—famous for crafting the finest socks in the world and operating some of the most advanced knitting machinery available. The goal: create a knit sock that stays up, combines smooth and textured zones to manage airflow, and ultimately makes the rider faster.

The result is a sock that matches the aerodynamic performance of ribbed lycra cuffs while delivering the comfort, fit, and durability you expect from a premium cycling sock.

After proving the aero advantage of the everyday aero sock, SILCA received incredible feedback on comfort—but also requests for a version that could push right to the UCI limit. SILCA listened. By extending the cuff to 19.5cm, the design maximizes aero performance within regulations.

The technology:
Custom knitting machinery enables SILCA to engineer socks with a smooth frontal surface where airflow remains laminar, while three strategically placed rows of turbulators disrupt the flow just before separation. These controlled turbulences energize the boundary layer, delaying flow separation and reducing the wake behind the leg. The result: smaller pressure drag and measurable savings of 4–8 watts at 30–45 kph, on par with ribbed lycra socks of the same height.

Materials matter.
SILCA aero socks are knit from Q-Skin, a silver ion–infused polyamide that is antibacterial, odor-resistant, and exceptionally soft. It also outperforms traditional sock yarns in moisture control, keeping riders comfortable on long, hot rides. Fast doesn’t have to mean compromising comfort—these may be the most comfortable socks ever made.
