Kelim Senneh Rug

Senneh is the old name of the modern city of Sanandaj. The carpets produced in the city and by nomads or farmers from the surrounding region are known as Senneh rugs. These double-sided kilims are woven using the traditional slit-weave technique. They often display intricate small-scale patterns such as bouquets of roses, rows of tree or floral motifs, as well as traditional Mahi designs. Larger central fields are also common, frequently adorned with a rhombus in varying colors.
