Vater Percussion is an American manufacturing company founded in 1950's based in Massachusetts and is one of top 5 American drum stick manufacturers. The company has always focused on percussion instruments, producing drum sticks, brushes and mallets. It was founded by Jack Adams, and today run by his two grandsons Ron and Alan Vater.The Classic Series profiles and sizes have been some of the core models in the drumstick world since the birth of the “trap set”. Jack Adams even hand-turned some of these drumstick profiles at Jack’s Drum Shop in Boston back in the 1950’s and 60’s. Vater are revisiting some Vater History with these Classics: 6 core models, lathe turned to their classic specs and profiles, just like they were made back in the 1980’s. Available in both wood tip and nylon tip options. Vater only uses dowels that have a moisture content specific to "striking" tools (10%-12%), so you get a drumstick with great feel and durability which results in Vater sticks feeling slightly heaver in the hand but results in a great feel around the kit..The Vater Classics Maple 8D Wood Tip: This shares its grip size with a 7A, but has a longer shaft running to a full 16” (40.64cm) in length. The taper and acorn tip combination delivers a drumstick that plays effortlessly with warm and defined cymbal tones. Available in both American Hickory and Sugar Maple. The Hickory version is the right choice for live and harder hitting performance settings, while this Sugar Maple version is perfect for more laid back, subtle playing styles, as well as orchestral and lesson room type settings.
